Downloading QRY400 files using Client Access
http://www.as400network.com/nwn/story.cfm?ID=9367. Q. Whenever I download a QRY400-created file that contains a field generated using the "define result fields" feature, the field always appears in hexadecimal format. I'm specifically using IBM's Client Access file transfer to create an "XL" format (bif5) from a QRY400- created data file. How can I get these fields to appear in a usable format? A. When using the Client Access Express file transfer program and having fields downloaded in a hex format, make these changes: 1. Start the File Transfer program. 2. Select the Properties option on the File menu. 3. Check the Convert CCSID 65535 box on the Conversions tab. Depending on your version of Client Access, you may need to add the following line to the CBWTFR.INI file: ForceTranslation=1; For more information about the Client Access Express, go to http://as400.rochester.ibm.com/tstudio/ca400/ccsid.htm. -- Terry Smith, NEWS/400 Tech Editor
