Defining an Interleaved 2 of 5 Bar Code without a check digit
Q. How can I define the keyword BARCODE as an Interleaved 2 of 5 label
without a check digit? We have the AFP Utilities for AS/400, and I'm
starting to create printer files with the keyword BARCODE. My bar
code's type is Interleaved 2 of 5 (10 digits). If I use the Print
Format Utility to create labels, I can't define a check digit, and all
our scanners read all the bar codes. But when I use BARCODE in a
printer file, the created bar code has an extra digit. How can I
define this keyword as an Interleaved 2 of 5 label without a check
digit?
A. The DDS Reference Guide (SC41-5712),
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/pubs/html/as400/v4r5/ic2924/info/db2/rbafpmst02.htm
, provides details regarding bar code coding and the
defaults for check digits. The format of the keyword is:
BARCODE (barcode-id [height] [*HRZ|*VRT]
[*HRI|*HRITOP|*NOHRI][*AST|*NOAST] [check-digit]
[unit-width] [wide/narrow-ratio]])
The optional check-digit parameter can be two values for Interleave 2
of 5, 01 for no check digit, and 02 for generating a check digit. For
more information, see the reference manual on bar codes, BCOCA
Reference (S544-3766).
