Viewing Spool File Internals
Are you interested in viewing the internals of OS/400 spool files? Perhaps you want to increase printer throughput or determine the exact effect of various DDS keyword combinations. If this is the case, Gumbo Software offers a free utility that dumps the internals of a selected OS/400 file. Utility Dumpster supports most of the OS/400 spooled file print data streams, including *SCS (SNA Character String), *IPDS (Intelligent Printer Data Stream), and *AFPDS (Advanced Function Printing Data Stream). Dumpster generates the following formatted dumps: *ATTRIB -- The complete attributes for the spooled file, equivalent to WRKSPLFA on steroids *RSCLST -- This gives you a list of external resources referenced by the spooled file. This is the output of OS/400's QGSLRSC API. *DTASTR -- The raw data stream in readable form *BUFFER -- This gives you complete information on the spooled file buffers. This is the output of OS/400's QSPGETSP API for format SPFR0200. Dumpster includes a work-a-like for OS/400's Work with Spooled File (WRKSPLF) command called Work with Gumbo Spooled Files (WRKGSISPLF). It also includes a work-a-like for OS/400's Work with Output Queue (WRKOUTQ) command called Work with Gumbo Output Queue (WRKGSIOUTQ). You can download Dumpster from http://www.gumbo.com/Licpgm/Dumpster.html
