Stop Startup Programs
From: WinXPnews E-Zine Tue, Sep 2, 2003 (Vol. 3, 35 - Issue 91) http://www.winxpnews.com/?id=91 Several readers wrote to remind us that another way to get rid of startup programs (and one that is easier and safer than editing the registry) is to use the msconfig tool. We've mentioned msconfig previously, but for those who might have missed it, here's how: Click Start | Run. Type msconfig and click OK. Go to the Startup tab. You'll see a list of startup items that includes the location (path) of the executable program file and the location in the registry. Uncheck the checkbox for an item to prevent it from running at system startup. The good thing about this method is that you can easily come back and enable the program by checking the box if you decide you want to it be a startup program again.
